Alex Salmond: Nukes and war will be banned in independent Scotland - Daily Record

Renfrewshire Council passed local laws, years ago, which bsically stated that no nuclear weapons would be allowed within their area. This forced the Royal Navy to re route there transport of nuclear missiles from Faslane in Argyllshire to Beith in Ayrshire.
Prior to this the missiles were transported, on trucks, down the main road from Faslane and across the bridge, over the river Clyde at Erskine. They then proceeded up the motorway, turning off at Paisley, near Glasgow Airport. They moved down a dual carriageway which is known as the Johnstone by pass. The turned off at the Linwood junction and moved through Elderslie, the birthplace of William Wallace, through Johnstone and down to Beith.
Unfortunately the route from Erskine to Johnstone is in Renfrewshire and the local laws banned this movement. So the missiles were then routed through Glasgow city centre from the West End to the South side of the river Clyde. They then had to move out through Pollockshaws area to Barrhead and from there down to Beith where the RNAD have a repair/service depot.. Glasgow City is considered to be in Lanarkshire.
Glasgow Council were understandably miffed and complained about these things going through their City centre. I now believe that they are being moved by ship from Faslane to somewhere in England for servicing, probably Portsmouth.
Therefore part of Scotland is nuclear free already and so,why not the whole country? I would like to see Scotland, after independence, become like Switzerland and we could then thrive from our oil,gas and the financial sector.
